New for 2006

We will have all the details of the blacktail season when we get back from Mexico in February

The first of April spring bear season opened with the high country choked with snow, we had 9" over normal rainfall and a tremendous snow pack and not much in the way of hot weather to melt the snow. The bear were not coming out of high country hybernation. So we called three hunters that were scheduled to hunt this year and told them they might want to wait until next year as our hunting area had been greatly reduced. Dennis from California still wanted to hunt and Neil our local hunter who arrowed a very nice black color phase last year still wanted to hunt. We didn't see much until the very last week of season, then we saw two or three bear a day. Neil was very picky, looking for a bigger black color phase than his 6'6 black from last year or a brown color phase. As luck would have it Dennis got a shot at a very large brown color phase that turned out to be a miss and on the last day of season killed this huge brown color phase, with the guts out it weighed 380, we beleive this was a very old bear but we won't get the results for some months.
